Privacy Policy

This document was prepared for review by the company's legal counsel and is not yet legally reviewed.

1. Who we are

FixItForYou is a home-repair service operated by Fix It For You LLC, 51 Petersburg Road, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect through our website, fixitforyou.org (the "Site"), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

We serve selected areas in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, and California. The Site checks your ZIP code to tell you whether we currently serve your area.

2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to check whether we can help you, schedule a visit, and do the work. Depending on how you use the Site, this may include:

Information you give us

• ZIP code, to check whether you are in our service area.
• Service address, when you ask us to visit.
• Name and phone number, so we can reach you and confirm the visit.
• Email address (optional).
• Description of the problem, in your own words.
• Photos (optional, up to five), if you choose to show us the problem.
• Preferred contact method (phone call, text message, or email) and urgency (for example, "today" or "this week").
• Anything else you choose to include in a message to us.

Information collected automatically

• Approximate location derived from your IP address, used only to pre-select a region on the Site. This is not precise location. See "Location information" below.
• Ad attribution parameters (such as utm_* and gclid values in the link), when you arrive from one of our ads, so we know which ad brought you here.
• Technical logs: IP address, browser type and version ("user agent"), and timestamps, which we keep for security and to keep the Site running.
• Consent records: which version of our policies you accepted and the privacy choices you made, so we can honor them and show that we asked.
• Cookies and similar technologies, described in section 5 and in our Cookie Policy.

We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, driver's license number, bank account details, or similar sensitive identifiers. If online payment is enabled, card details are entered on a hosted payment page run by our payment provider; we never see or store card numbers.

3. How we use it

We use the information above to:

• Confirm whether your address is in our service area.
• Contact you about your request, schedule a visit, and send appointment updates in the way you chose.
• Understand the problem before we arrive, including by reviewing photos you sent.
• Prepare estimates and written quotes, perform the work, and keep records of completed jobs.
• Process payment, if online payment is enabled.
• Keep the Site secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and troubleshoot problems.
• Measure which ads and campaigns lead to requests (only if you accepted advertising cookies, or through attribution parameters already in the link you clicked).
• Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it (only if you accepted analytics cookies).
• Honor your privacy choices and comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build profiles for other companies' advertising.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only when it is needed to serve you, run the business, or meet a legal obligation:

• Our technicians and dispatchers, who need your contact details, address, problem description, and photos to schedule and do the work.
• Independent contractors. If we assign a job to an independent contractor, we share only the details needed for that job (typically your name, phone number, service address, problem description, and photos). They are required to use that information only to perform the job.
• Service providers that work on our behalf, such as: email and text-message delivery services; hosting providers; an analytics provider (only if you accepted analytics cookies); an advertising provider for conversion measurement (only if you accepted advertising cookies); and a payment provider (only if online payment is enabled and you choose to pay online through its hosted page).
• Legal and safety reasons, when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, a court order, or a government request, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of you, us, or others.
• Business transfers, if we sell or transfer all or part of the business, in which case your information may be transferred as part of that transaction and this policy would continue to apply to it.

We do not share your information with data brokers.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

The Site uses a small number of cookies. Some are strictly necessary (for example, to keep your privacy choices and to protect forms from abuse). Optional analytics and advertising cookies are off by default and load only if you accept them. You can change your choices at any time on the Privacy Choices page. Our Cookie Policy lists each cookie, who sets it, what it does, and how long it lasts.

6. Location information

• IP-based region. When you visit, we derive an approximate region from your IP address only to pre-select the right area on the Site (for example, to show the correct state). This does not tell us your street address.
• "Use my location." We do not access your device's GPS unless you tap "Use my location" and your browser asks you for permission. If you do, we use the coordinates once to find your ZIP code and then discard them. We do not store the coordinates.
• Service address. The address you type in when requesting a visit is stored with your request so we know where to go.

7. Photos you upload

Photos help us understand the problem before we arrive. Here is how we handle them:

• Uploading photos is optional (up to five per request).
• When you upload a photo, we automatically strip embedded metadata (EXIF), including any GPS location, camera details, and timestamps.
• Photos are stored privately on servers we control. They are never public.
• Photos are viewable only by authorized staff (and, if applicable, the contractor assigned to your job) through short-lived signed links that expire.
• Please avoid uploading photos that show people, documents, or anything unrelated to the repair.

8. How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. We currently keep:

• Requests that do not turn into a job, including photos: 12 months from the request date.
• Completed job records (quotes, invoices, work performed, related messages): 7 years, because tax and contract rules require us to keep business records.
• Consent records: as long as the related request or account exists, plus 3 years.
• Security logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps): 90 days.

We may keep information longer if the law requires it or if it is needed to resolve a dispute. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

9. Your choices and rights

Cookie choices. On the Privacy Choices page you can accept all optional cookies, reject them, or manage them by category. Rejecting optional cookies does not affect your ability to request service.

Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising, and we will not load advertising cookies on that browser.

Marketing messages. We only send marketing texts or emails if you separately opt in. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to a text or using the unsubscribe link in an email. Transactional messages about your request (for example, appointment confirmations) will still be sent.

Your privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, the New Jersey Data Privacy Act, and the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act. These may include the right to:

• Know what personal information we have about you and get a copy of it.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your information.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of your information and of targeted advertising.
• Not be treated differently for exercising your rights.

Whether a particular law applies to us depends on its thresholds and on your state of residence, but we will honor verified requests of these kinds from anyone we serve.

How to make a request. Use the request form on the Privacy Choices page, or contact us at help@fixitforyou.org or +19086453469. Tell us what you would like us to do (access, correct, or delete) and how to reach you.

Verification. Before we act on a request, we need to make sure it is really you. We usually do this by matching the information in your request (such as your name, phone number, and service address) to what we have on file, and we may send a confirmation code to the phone number or email address associated with your request. We will not ask you for more information than we need to verify you. You can also have an authorized agent submit a request on your behalf; we may ask for proof that you gave them permission.

Timing. We will respond within 45 days of receiving a verifiable request. If we need more time, we will tell you why and when to expect a response. If we deny a request, we will explain why and how to appeal by contacting us at the addresses above.

10. Children

The Site is intended for adults who own or manage a home. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We store your information in our own database and private file storage on servers we control. We use safeguards such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls limited to staff who need the information, signed expiring links for photos, and security logging. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you as required by law if a breach affects you.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date and version at the top and, if the change is significant, ask you to review it again the next time you make a request. Your consent records note which version you accepted.
